I realize that no one really visits here much anymore because I’m lame at updating (except for the spammers of course - they adore me). Regardless, I thought I would share this brief composition that I’m roughing out at the moment. I used sounds recorded late at night in my neighborhood, and then some vocoder playing. It’s the first audio piece I’ve done with no specific visuals in mind for quite some time. I’m sure I can polish it up, but I thought I’d give you a listen. I’m just wired tonight and feeling creative.

Noisy Daughter is for audiophiliacs and fans of all forms of free expression. It's for electrotrash and theatrically inclined digit heads jonesing for new sounds, a new sense of style, and who like to see it all mashed together with hot naked art girls (and boys).
Let's take this apart pixel by pixel, bit by byte, and pull the covers off some relevant historical analog references, shall we?
Pirate Radio: It's been around for ages. Covert Djs grabbing onto the airwaves to free their speech. The latest incarnation of pirate radio is podcasting. Gloriously uncensored podcasters bypass the airwaves and go global – reaching anyone with a home computer. You can stick it in your earbuds, and baby, the FCC can't do a damn thing about it.
The Mixtape: Some of us are old enough to remember when friends would make and pass around tapes of music, random sound bites, voice recordings and the like. They were packaged lovingly inside handmade collages or drawings. Think of how MP3s and peer-to-peer networks are now further facilitating such impulses.
Zines: Most people who grew up since the advent of photocopiers have seen these small press(sometimes single author) sources of information, inspiration, and independent vision. They have been reworked as blogs and personal & community web sites in glowing color, once again with the potential for a much broader audience.
Nudies: When photography was young, photographers would sell packets of risqué photo prints from their studios, often secretly, to a handful of private collectors. And we all know that the most prolific form of entertainment on the web is now, don't we?
All of these forms of what I like to call grassroots expression now have a common playground. They can be combined in new ways, and even conflated - a single entity. The present and future of free expression is noisydaughter.com.
Strepsata (a name derived from the Latin words for "noisy daughter") is host to schizophrenic impulses, tossed out at you in any form she pleases. She's a former art-school-girl who started out splicing together experimental radio shows with two big reel-to-reel tape recorders in the mid 1990s. These shows actually hit the airwaves on KCUR public radio. Strepsata used to giggle to herself, imagining a traveler passing through her small town and happening upon her insanity while tuning the radio dial.
Also, a photographer since childhood, Strepsata can't stop taking pictures of interesting people as naked as she can get them. In the realm of words, she published her first literary zine, BeatVamp Review, in 1991. She's now an award winning filmmaker and video artist, not to mention a former sex worker and world traveler with many stories to tell. She's been to jail, she's been in the middle of a war zone, and she's been investigated by the FBI. Noisydaughter is the repository of all of Strepsata's accumulated interests, whims, and sometimes nonsensical experiments.
